ODT-109 SHALY SAND ANALYSIS
This class provides an overview of Shaly Sand Analysis. By the end of the course, the participants will be able to:
-
Describe the differences between shaly sands and clean sands
-
Understand the clay as mineral and shale as lithology
-
Predict how clay is distributed in reservoir rocks using Thomas-Stieber approach
-
Describe the effects of clay occurrence on wireline logs responses
-
Integrate core data and other information to support the analysis
-
Calculate Volume of Shale using different methods
-
Describe the nature of Shaly Sand models: Waxman-Smits, Dual-Water, Simandoux, etc.
-
Understand assumptions used in porosity and saturation calculations, compute porosity and water saturations (SWT, SWE, SXO) using shaly sand models
-
Generate Reservoir and Pay Summary
